M. Lee Preston, Jr, the Senator James Clark, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award
M. Lee Preston, Jr receives this award for his work as President of the Upper Patuxent Archaeology Group and the Friends of the Patapsco Female Institute in preserving the history, heritage and culture of Howard County. Since 1978, he has been involved with archaeological research at prehistoric and historic sites in Virginia and Maryland. He has shared his knowledge with numerous students as an adjunct Physical Anthropology and Archaeology instructor at Howard Community College. His work has involved research at the Simpsonville Mill, the Howard County Conservancy, the Anderson Cemetery, the Patapsco Female Institute and other areas in Howard County.

Barbara Feaga, Individual/Organization Award
Barbara Feaga, of the Howard County Historical Society, is recignized for her work in developing a database of Upper Anne Arundel/Howard County deeds. Over the past four years the database has grown to 40,000 names of properties and the primary names contained in the deeds. The database is currently available at the Howard County Historical Society Library, and once completed, it will be available on the Historical Society's web site. Her work has provided a valuable research resource.

Ken Short, Individual Award
As the Historic Sites Surveyor for the Howard County Department of Planning and Zoning, Ken Short has been a contractor for the past 4 years in managing the County’s Historic Sites Inventory. His work has involved researching and adding new sites, as well as updating the architectural and historical information on many of the existing sites on the inventory. Ken’s work has greatly increased the information available on the County’s historic homes and businesses.
