The 2011 awards were presented to:

Charles Wagandt, Senator James Clark, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award
Charles Wagandt was selected to receive the Senator James Clark, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award for his lifelong work in the preservation of significant historic sites. He is the great grandson of Oella mill owner W.J. Dickey and in 1973 he bought the 70 acre Oella mill village. Charles laid out a master plan for the village rehabilitation that resulted in the salvage of most historic building including several log cabins. Charles was very instrumental in the relocation of the George Ellicott house. Over the years, Charles has received many preservation awards for his many contributions to historical preservation, with the Maryland Preservation’s Calvert Prize being the most recent.

Jenifer Johnson
Jennifer Johnson has been the moving force behind the restoration of Old Brick Church on the property of Christ Episcopal Church and the founding of The Friends of Old Brick. After an assessment of the church condition in 2005, the restoration began and is near completion in time for the 200th anniversary of the consecration of the church on October 16, 2011. Throughout the restoration, Jennifer has been the overseer, has coordinated events to recognize its progress, and has stimulated fund raising activities.

Ed Lilley
Ed Lilley has worked for the past 15 years as president of Ellicott City Restoration Foundation, guiding its efforts in preserving the historic character of Ellicott City. His work has involved partnerships with the Historic District Commission and other organizations. For example, he assisted in the housing of a Visitors Center in the Post Office building, and initiated multiple programs including attaching identification markers on historic buildings; the funding of the Thomas Isaac Log Cabin; the annual Ellicott City photographic contest to draw attention to the buildings and features of Ellicott City; and the annual award presentation to a person who has shown care and concern for Ellicott City and the historic district.

Adele Air
Adele Air was active with the Howard County Recreation and Parks, conducting historic interpretive activities at the Thomas Isaac Log Cabin, Patapsco Female Institute, B & O Railroad Station and historic tours of Ellicott City. She was also involved with the Civil War Trail and later worked on the Maryland National Road Association as the Executive Director. Currently, Adele is the Main Museum Educator at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Frederick, Maryland.
